I am building a 12×16 outdor shed and am not sure as to the best way to construct the foundation. I do not want this shed permamently attached to a concrete foundation. Should it be placed on 4×4’s, cinder blocks, pier blocks etc…?? Your response is appreciated.

Dear Pammy,
Pier blocks would probably be the best choice of the ones that you named.
They make for a more stable base and can be reused whenever you want to replace the shed.
*Another cheaper option is to go to your nearest block plant, buy paver seconds. Put the floor of the shed about a foot off the ground using the pavers as pilings. Gives good air circulation, easy construction and avoids the use of treated wood.

Pammyll:
Why do you not want your shed attached to a permanent concrete foundation?
If you desire mobility, you may consider a skid foundation, i.e, using timbers to build floor and post supports from.
If you want a simple, fixed foundation, I would consider poles and bolt plates to the posts for your floor and roof framing. Horizontal girts may be used to attach siding. US Dept of Agriculture has publications on inexpensive pole structures or check w/ your local state extension service.
*Fred,I do not want it attached permanently because my township will increase the taxes. I was going to use 4x4's attached to deck piers, on a bed of gravel, and 2x6 joists. Thanks
