Shingle replacement details needed
We are having a problem with roofing nails “backing out” on a house that we built 5 years ago for a structural engineer. The problem was discovered by a consultant that was hired by the engineer to review a siding problem. The consultant claims that there is no acceptable way to remove and replace the shingles where the heads of the nails have pushed thru the shingle above. The shingles are an O.C. architectural shingle, nailed down on 1/2″ plywood with 1 1/4″ nails. I know how to fix the problem, but I can’t seem to find a source to prove that my solution is an industry standard approved one for removing and replacing individual shingles. Help!
