Doing an EIFS tear off. Owner wants to bevel out bottom few courses of shingles 3.5" to give it some flair. Any tips on how to cut shingles to obtain the flair, and blocking would be helpful. The exposure for the shingles is to be 5.5". Any suggestions welcome. Starting day Thursday,Aug. 24th.

you don't cut the shingles (except at the woven corners).
on a wall with no flair.. the first course is a single shingle (the starter course) and the frst exposed shingle at 5.5 fgoes right on top of that.. that is NO FLARE
a little flare would be a piece of 3/8 lath nailed at the bottom of the sheathing, and the shingles hang down 1 inch..
a lot of flare would be a piece of furring nailed at the bottom of the sheathing... you have to get uniform nailing and pressure with your hand to help nail as the flare gets greater..
some of the flares can be very exagerated.. depending on the effect you are trying to acheive..
BTW.. the lath and furring are also referred to as ant highways...
