I’m in need of a new vacuum cleaner for regular vacuuming of my house. All surfaces are hardwood or sheet vinyl so I don’t need carpet tools. I’m thinking that a good shop vac would work and be less expensive than a regular vaccum cleaner.
5 – 6 gallons should be big enough. Would like something not too noisy and have rubber or rubberized wheels to prevent marring of the floor.
Would appreciate recommendations.
Thank You.

I have had good luck with Ridgid shop vacs from Home Depot. The Model# WD4070 ($89.97) might be of interest as it's small and compact (my wife has one for her home renovation projects). The unit has plastic wheels and casters that should be fine on most surfaces, and the size would be best for general vacuuming around the home. You may want to buy an attachment that has a wide brush...
A shop vac for home use is a personal choice. For me it wouldnt work. A nice upright makes quick work of the house.
A shop vac is a screaming banshee that requires earplugs and it takes longer to do the house with. Emptying takes longer too. Takes more storage space. My shopvac stays in the workshop. My shark vacuum stays in the closet.
To each his own.
My wife loves the Shark upright vacuum. It's maneuverable and effective...
Five year warranty too!
Can you please provide me with the model number of the Shark?
Thank You
This is the review that convinced me of the shark vacuum. Ive had it a year and dont regret for one second:

Get a Roomba and never vacuum again.
I'm waiting for the Roomba side-kick that will move the furniture for the Roomba.
As the owner of a whole lot of shop vacs (15 or so) I wouldn't use one for household floors. The capacity is over kill. The attachments leave a lot to be. desired. And they are not really convenient to move around. Years ago I inherited a Hoover Commercial Portapower from my parents. When it died I replaced it with the same thing. I use it both on carpet and hard floors. It's ok for carpet and great for the hard surfaces. Medium priced.

The best thing one can do with multiple shop vacs is dedicate one to wet pickup only.
I think my fein turbo would make a fine household vacuum. It's amazingly quiet, the hose is 16' long as is its cord. The attachments are superb. The pricetag however may be a bit extreme if it's not a business expense.
Have you seen the Milwaukee cordless stick vacuum?
Dyson, one of the leading brands in the industry. I recommend the Dyson Cyclone V10 Motorhead model. Perhaps one of the best features of this vacuum cleaner is that it runs on a 25.2V lithium-ion battery, which can last about 52 minutes before it needs to be recharged. As far as cleaning power goes, it is very effective at removing debris and dirt from bare floors. That's why I recommend choosing light weight vacuum cleaners https://www.vacuumreports.com/top-6-best-lightweight-vacuum-cleaners-for-the-elderly/
