Should I Seal the Concrete Porch?
On a storage building/cabin, I will have an 8’X32′ concrete porch. The whole slab and concrete porch has been curing for 24 days with cool days below 80 degrees and wet down almost every day.
After 30 days, should I seal the exterior porch concrete? It will have half a day of direct West sun with Texas temps. topping out at 105 degrees by August. Is there a brand of sealer that’s worked best for you?
Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
You're goiing to have a good slab, what with giving it the proper cure like you're doing.
Whatever sealant you use, I would wait another thirty days after you stop curing before I would appy it.
The sealer you use depends on what you are sealing it from, so why do you want to seal? If you just want to weatherproof it, I wouldn't bother.

There are three kinds of people: Predaters, Prey, and Paladins. The really strange thing is that Prey feels safer from Predators by disarming Paladins.
SamT,
The porch roof is 10'X34', the concrete floor is 8'X32', faces due North, but has a Northwest sun view in the hottest part of the Texas summer days. I was thinking that if I could seal the concrete, any stains caused as the building construction continues would be easier to cleanup. Also, after the project is finished, it would help on a long term basis, to keep the concrete clean.
I have a new 5 gallon drum of "Sealcrete" that's a semigloss sealer I found on a Lowes closeout. The company instructs to wait at least 30 days, but your comment about allowing more time sounds better.

Bill,
The company probably assumes that the 'crete installer does not keep it properly wet for the correct length of time, (28 days) after the pour.SamT
