Helping a friend do a small job in a bank after hours. He has a habit of missing a few details, trying to cut corners, bidding too low, etc. I have talked about him here before. He never changes. But I get paid by the hour when I help him, so it’s his problem.
Anyway, he needed to remove a power cord from the wall that used to supply power to modular furniture, and replace it with a 110v receptacle. That was all the electrical work, so he figured he could do it and not call an electrician. I’m working in another part of theb office, and he walks up holding the new receptacle: “Ok, it has two sets oif screws, one gold and one silver. Which one gets theb white wire? and how come ther’s no screw for the ground wire?” So I turn the receptacle over, and show him that he bought (at Home Depot) a two-prong receptacle. It’s 11 pm and the office needs to be up and running at 7 in the morning.

Thats when you go to his house and pull the correct recepticle out of his garage for him to repair when the store is open.
Ohmyohmy has got it right!
Your HD must be well stocked to be carrying 2 prong recep. - I have to go to the supply house for those!

Never underestimate the value of a sharp pencil or good light.
Go home, eat, relax, spend time with your family and let him sweat the details. If someone ask you about the non-working or smoking recep, simply reply "What recepticle, I am not an electrician?"
You mean theres no HD in San Antonio open 24/7?
Not that you coulda got there last night with the ice on the roads.

The HD at I-10/DeZavala (nw part of town) was open 24/7 for about 2 years, but they stopped that about 4-5 yrs ago.

I am sure I have not seen a two prong receptacle in a store for at LEAST two decades...and I'm betting quite a bit longer than that.

Another day, another tool.
They are readily available here, except in almond.Had the Lowes store manager looking for them until I realized that I was in the almond section and not ivory.Didn't know that he was the store manager, thought that he was in the electrical section, but was willing to help me.

They need to put that man back out on the floor!
That is the same store where I was buying some of the modular wall blocks and was waiting for a forklift to get them and load them. After about a 20 minutes of waiting the clerk in the gardent center told me to go to the customer service and get the 10% knocked off for waiting. And they did without even confirming it (unless she had called ahead). That is unlike HD where the manager all, but said that I was lying about there price match and would not even believe me when had a printout of it and I had to wait for he to verify it, for the 3rd time. Then he would not even give me an extra $4 for the 3 trips that I made. And the same store after they screwed something else that a friend was getting she called the next day to complain and they giver her 10% next purchase. When I went to use it they had her name in the computer as waint to get measurements for a kitchen.

Bank jobs. You have got the right hours hit them when they are closed. I never worry about receptacles as they usually have plenty. By the way, receptacles are the least of your worries. Look out for security cameras and watch the finger prints. Make a clean "FAST" get away. Just like Eddie always does.
Good luck.

Working for nothing is not getting any cheaper.
Did some carpet for a bank. We worked Friday after they closed, all day Sat and Sun. They gave us the key to the door. We asked about security codes. The guy said he maintained around 30 banks for them and only a couple of them had any security. The vault, well thats different. If I cudda just figgered out how to work those computers.
