I have been reading this forum for a while but this is my first post. I just had the shower in the master bath redone and now when the water is on there is a squeal that can be heard through the whole house. a new mixing valve-Danze model 1007- was used along with a hand held shower also – Danze model 1046. Can anyone give me a hint as to what may be causing this. The contractor who did the work should be back on Monday to look at it but I was wondering what may be cause it can the best why to correct it.

The general problem is with some in the water stream that is moving back and forth.
It can vary from a machine gun sound to a coke bottle whistle sound.
In other faucets it is often caused by a loose washer.
Don't know anything about the Danze as to what if anything in the controls could be loose.
Might be a piece of dirt or trash in there that needs to be flushed out.
Thanks for the responce this one sound like the coke bottle.Garth

my parents had their bathroom redone about 7 years ago. They also experience the shower squealing issue. I'll be interested to know what you find out for a fix.
The problem is most likely in the hand held unit. We had the same problem with a Moen set up last week. Isolated the noise to the hand held. Don't know if it was the vacuum breaker or the flow restrictor but we removed them both and the noise went away. No, I am not worried about the chance of grey water siphoning back into the potable because this is a shower stall only where the hand held does not even reach the floor.

Thank to all for your responses the problem was with the vacuum breaker, once we remove that the squealing stopped.Garth
But what about the squeeling sound from the building/home inspector when you go to sell?I have Danze faucets, but I got JacLo shower fixtures, for whatever that is worth.
