Was poking around Fine Homebuidling’s website recently looking for information on building a side yard gate and was not able to find what I am looking for. What I am looking for is a reference book or books or project plans that will show me how to build out the gate using tongue and groove boards and to profile the top with a radius. I looked in the Midville Tool catalog as well as the McFeely’s website for any reference material that I could draw from….but was not able to find anything.

Gate hardware.
I know that Home Depot has some gate hardware that includes a welded steel frame. You attach your own boards to the hardware. This way you get a rigid frame and don't have to worry about the gate's structure. You can shape the gate any way you want. My guess is that the frame accomodates a 3' wide gate.
