i am from ireland and we are only getting to grips with the stick frame house, we have mainly used concrete block.
i have access to almost all the materials you lot have, but for some. i have been offered cedar shiplap clapboards, machined from 8 inch boards, 5/8’s thick with a 3/4″ overlap. this can be clear or knotty, which would you recommend? we have a moderate climate. i have also been offered bevelled boards, one side rough and the other smooth. this has been offered in 5.5″ wide by 15/16″ to 1/4″. which of these options is the better one? and is the baked on finish worth the extra money?
please help me!!!!
