I usually can be found at Knots but I have a problem that is probably very simple for you plumbers out there. When I flush the toilet it makes a deep moaning sound. If I turn on the water at the sink, which is close to the toilet, the moaning stops. It’s the same whether it is the hot or cold water tap. Is this something I can fix or do I need a plumber? Thanks.

Exorcist.
Simplest thing to do is to just replace the entire fill valve assembly. Fluidmaster makes a unit designed for DIY installation (unless you have an odd "designer" unit that needs special parts).
It can also becaused by a lose washer in the stop valve.
In which case "playing" with the stop valve (screwing it in or out a little) would probably change, if not eliminate, the problem. Good point.
I've had that happen with toilets before. Maybe could get a bunch and have a choir! But the reply about replacing the valve is correct. I think it's flow through the partially open valve makes it vibrate and "sing".
Kind of funny thing yeaterday--I'm at some neighbors, wife is 95 and husband is 90 and both are hard of hearing. I notice the toilet fill valve cycling on and off about every minute and mention it to the husband. He says, no, that when the washer runs, the pipes transmit the sound so it sounds like it's in the bathroom but it isn't. We go down the hall and it happens and I know it's the toilet. He asks the wife if she's doing laundry. She says she isn't, but goes downstairs to check anyway. Comes back, nope nothing downstairs. So she says she'll listen. Turns on the light in the adjacent bathroom and the fan is wired with the light switch, so she says, "Yes, I do hear it." I kindly explain she's hearing the fan. Turn that off and the toilet in the other bathroom runs again. She doesn't hear it. I'm thinking this is like asking a blind person to tell you when the light has changed. Husband finally agrees to look in the tank in the right bathroom and sure enough, the float isn't right. He flushes it and doesn't notice that it isn't refilling, so I reach around him, holding the tank cover in other hand and get the flapper closed. When it refills, the float has turned enough that it shuts off and stays shut off (for now). I hate plumbing, so I just put the lid on and walk away.
