folks,
i’m tearing out some old joists from a 1955-era garage in central new york, and i noticed all the 12′ 2x6s are stamped “sitka spruce.” i’ve got a pile of these things now, still dry and in the garage, and before i toss them out in the snow i was wondering if there are any good reuses for this species or is it just any ol’ wood?
thanks

Musical instrument makers might be interested if some of it is edge grain . You might try posting in Knots ,might get an offer for some of it .
cheers Rik
depending on the grain and condition.. wooden boatbuilders use Sitka Spruce for masts and spars
most of them are glued up
depending on grade airplane builders also like sitka spruce since it's extremely light and strong..
