Hey all,
I’m about to buy a compressor and was looking for advise on what the smallest compressor, in terms of CFM and PSI, I can buy that will comfortably handle a framing nailer for a one-man framing crew.
Also any brand name advise also welcome,
Thanks

I can't advise psi or cfm, but a pancake compressor should be fine, I use a PC pancake to run my framing gun and finish nailers
Not bad, but if I bought new I would get one that one uses oil, the oiless are a lot louder, and from what I have heard, do not last as long.
Try the advanced search, I remember a discussion about this sometime recently
Hey thanks for the reply, I did an advanced search and found some good discussions.
As long as you can carry it, afford it, and have enough power to run it, bigger is better. I have a small oiless from costco, which works fine, but it is noisy and runs a lot more often than the five horse craftsman. But it is nice to be able to move it with one hand. I think that tank size and high pressure can help make it last longer under full time use, and like all tools ; with luck you get what you pay for.

dan,
very sound advice,
thanks
the little pc pancake unit that runs at 150 psi should be big enough and portable too
i have the older run that runs at 100 and have stapled plenty of underlay down with it

I would say the compressor should put out a minimum 4cfm at 90psi. If you want to bang nail or staple you may have to wait for a compressor of this size to catch up. If you will be doing any work in cold weather don't get an oilless cold weather is hard on an oilless.

Its not a smile- its a cramp
Turtleneck,
I'm a pretty methodical worker (read slow).
I appreciate the stats and the heads up about oil.
