Has anyone used epoxy to skim coat boards that are in rough shape? I have some rake boards that are need sanding and are beaten up, but I believe will hold paint. Too much work to replace them so I thought I would strip the paint, sand and use a skim coat of epoxy to even out the wood. I think one epoxy manufacturer said I could skim coat and then paint. Does anyone have any opinions? And btw – in the past I have posted and received fabulous advice – can’t thank you all enough for that! Joe, Boston MA

Joe, I'll be interested to hear the comments
Because, most of the epoxy I apply that goes on over painted wood, seems to want to peal there. Holds well to the bare wood, not so to the painted surface.
Semi coarse sanding to scratch the paint might help gription.
Seems like it would be less work to replace them.
