What’s the best way to fit molded skirt board to molded base(same profile)?
I always rip the molding off both then re-attach after cutting the landing base at 90 degrees and the skirt board on the stair pitch but the guy I’m working for wants to leave the molding on. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I agree,but,alas, that's not an option.
Cope the outside corners.

Miter the joint.
Top of the Skirtboard will meet top of baseboard.
Average stair pitch is approx 40deg. so miter cut is half of pitch, or approx 20deg.
thanks
Here are pics of simple mitered shirt to base and a pic of a situation where a simple miter did not work (wall with base above skirt not long enough for miter).
