Hi,
We are thinking of dividing a room by installing a movable sliding wall. We want it to be inconspicuous when slided out of the way and blend into the existing wall when closed. We have not been able to find anything like this – hardware etc. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks, Em

Have you tried Starship Suppliers Depot?
Search their site under Hatch, bulkhead, or ports.
LOL, Sorry but I couldn't resist...
Will the intent be for it to rotate out of the way or to slide back into a pocket like a pocket door?
Is this in new construction design or retro into an older house?
Either way, can you post a floorplan or photo?

The only thing that comes to mind is barn door hardware. We're doing a double door both 7' wide by 10' tall on a 30' track for a side wall of a dance studio. We do have a post in the middle of this one but no reason I couldn't have used a 24" tall by 3 1/2" wide by 16' microlam to make a 10 x 14 opening other than cost of the lam. I've also done bifold type doors using 3' x 6'8" doors three to make a 9' x 6'8" opening to open an office into a reception area.

I've seen it done with a pivoting panel -- hinged at one end, with a dolly wheel under the other, so it can be swung against an adjacent wall. Of course, you need clearance top and bottom, or trim that's hinged to flip out of the way.
I was thinking center sliding pivots

I know of a commercial supplier of accordion doors that may fit your need.
Name is Marco Industries I think. Portland Or.
Used commercially as room dividers for conference rooms etc.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I will have to go with the barn door hardware. In the Archives there is mention of hardware that will close a barn door snug. Just have to find a supplier.

I've been in two churches, both in eastern Ohio, that had rather large walls that "vanished" when moved. In both cases, the original design of the church (early 20th century) allowed the sanctuary to expand into the fellowship hall, or vice-versa.
The baseboard of the movable wall had a row of grab-handles for lifting it up into the picket above. I was never able to investigate if these were weight-balanced, or sprung. (I sure hope they were wieghted.)
I did see one being lifted -- at the UCC church in Warren Ohio, during their participation in a New Years community thing.
Something like that -- that what you're interested in?
