I have a copper topped barrel roof dormer. It’s a small 70 sq ft?)and pretty shallow arch, and i have to figure a way to insulate it. It would be very difficulat to get airflow through it.
So I thought a sprayed on foam would do the trick, but doing the entire roof is out of the expense equation, and getting a company to set up for such a small area will be, no doubt, impossible. (Heck, 6 out of 10 calls go unreturned, LOL)
So at a recent builders show i talked to a company that can sell me a two tank setup that does 200 sq feet, which would be cool. But it’s $500. Pricey! (And disposable)
Of course, buying can after can of “Great Stuff” will add up too, LOL!
(If the Great Stuff spayed out i could spray it to a solid but bendable foam block and “Glue” it up, but I know thats very impractical)
Any ideas?

Check out the foam kits at efi.org. They're great to deal with, and I've ordered from them and gotten 24 hour service with UPS ground. Open a wholesale account and you'll find the discount is pretty respectable.

Can you give us the benefit of your experiences applying the product?
I've only used it once, in a cathedral ceilinged bathroom in an old, old house that had 2x4 rafters. Amazing to think that they could have withstood 150 years of New England snow loads, but there you go.
Using it. Very messy, kind of fun, not particularly cheap. Simple, effective. I'd do it again. I do think that once you factor in the labor difference between the spray foam and the rigid foam in an irregular cavity, spray foam comes out ahead if you value your own time at all.Andy

What about using 1" or thinner EPS sheets, layering them up to fit, and foaming the sides with great stuff? I think that will be quite a bit cheaper than buying the foam. but if you want to check it out, besides the site Andy mentioned, foamofoam and tigerfoam (i think) are a couple other places that sell the kits.
