I want to secure 1/4″ birch plywood to studs (going through 3/8 ply), and I was wondering the smallest nail size that would hold the wood up… I am hoping for something less visible than my 15 guage nailer…. would a 23 gauge nailer/micropinner hold it up?

I would try 18 ga. because 23's are headless. Are glue and a few hails an option? Jay
Is it smooth ply, or grooved paneling? If grooved, consider a narrow gage stapler with 1" staples through the grooves.
I'm sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.
it is going to be smooth plywood, I could glue it up though...
PowerGrab, panel adhesive, etc, was my thought, too = then your pinner would be fine.
We recently installed 1500 sq ft of veneer panelling on a 1/2" mdf core to a ceiling with 23 guage headless pins and construction adhesive. Try a mock-up first to ensure that the 1/4" is enough to hold the nail.
contact cement and a j roller, no nails.?
The Morphine s eems to do no good at all..I'd run all the way if I would not fall...
It is going over (or under depending on your perspective) grooved plywood, and I am not sure if contact adhesive would work.
I once used a melamine sheet ( like thick formica) over panelling..worked like a champ. Even over the glossy surface. Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Like the others said use a pinner w/ adhesive. But I would also suggest you shoot two pins at an angle to each other, so one helps the other resist pull out. Like and X in cross section.
