lite weight spackle (doesn't shrink)
Sand after with 400 and a block?http://www.etherhuffer.typepad.com
I like the pink spackle that turns white when dry. Sand flat and feather edges with 120 grit paper on a 10" sanding block. Prime with a quick dry primer and small roller. Look for flatness and respackle if needed. Paint.
Beer was created so carpenters wouldn't rule the world.
I love the premixed, solvent-based spackle known as "Ready-Patch", from Zinsser. Adheres well, goes on to a feather edge, dries quickly, sands easily.
spackle or dry wall topping mud.
wet/damp sponge to finish and clean up over patch area.
