Head scratching, mouth open, drool forming.
Yep, it seems that we have a problem up there, about 26 feet in the air. A snapped, structural valley rafter supporting a 35 foot long ridge beam underneath several tons of cedar shakes. Hmmm, now THIS could be a problem.
(a brief summation to the homeowner… yep, it’s broke)
Seriously though, any input on possible repair options for a snapped valley rafter would be appreciated. Especially from someone who has actually tackled a similiar problem before 🙂
We are currently considering sandwiching the broken area with 1/4″ plate steel.
Any ideas?
