Hello all:
I am a lurker from the knots forum that got roped into doing some construction on the side for a friend of the family. My question is this: I am looking for snow arresters. The kind that goes on a low slope metal roof to keep snow on the roof from crashing into some unprotectd fence and framing(think enclosed kennel stall) or to break it up into nondestructive piecs as it falls. I’ve seen them b4 on commercial buildings in town but iv’e never heard of a brand name or any product reference. Has anyone ever used these b4 and could you recomend a brand?
I know this goes without saying but my customer is CHEAP. I may end up making these at home if i don’t find whats right. Thanks in advance to all who take the time to reply.

I found some from Fabral roof systems but they are on a plate that is fastened to the field of the metal roofing. I think i saw some that were more like a spike that goes onto the roof fasteners like a washer and act like a slicer as the snow moves down to help it lose some of it's NRG. I'll have to pay more attention next time i go into town.

Never seen any that attach thru the metal. They either glue to field or clamp to the seams. The way they work is to keep the snow on the roof 'til it melts and exits as water. A ton of "sliced" snow is still a ton of snow.

I think the spikes i saw were actually the mounting brackets for pipe style snow arresters--minus the pipes. The thought about the ton of snow is that as the broken up snow is falling off the roof and into the poultry fencing, it will fall through instead off tearing it right off. She seems to think she may someday board a "climber." I think any dog that can climb 6' of chain link fence might actually be a bear, though...
Maybe something from here fits the bill?

your profile dosent show where you are situated but up here in ontario Ideal Roofing in ottawa has them and supplies to the easter us i know
The snow arresters I have seen must be screwed on. I have to wonder if the glue on types would make it for any length of time, but I guess there are some marvelous adhesives out there.
Here is what I do with the Metal Sales and ABC profiles: Take the proper colored 1" x 2" metal drip edge and screw it to the ridges of the roofing panels a foot up from the edge, with the 2" leg on the roof and the 1' leg protruding upward to catch the snow. I put the 2" leg up the roof from the bottom, so that the small profile is what you see from the ground.
But, if you must have snow stops:

well, The adhesive, IF it is some magic stuff, still needs 28 consecutive days to cure for the warranty to be valid and some of the products WONT warranty a glued on install at all. It is too late to glue but i'm as skeptical as the rest and will use some screws just the same.
