Hey guys- Sorry about the subject typo, can’t be edited my a non mod. 🙁
I know this isn’t the Softplan forum, but I know Piffin and others are pretty sharp Softplan users, and as the Softplan forum looks a bit slow, I thought I’d cross post an question. I’m a relative newbie, v14. I placed my house on my site plan as per the instructions in the manual pg 609, etc. However, when I build my 3d using that site plan, the house isn’t sitting properly. It’s still where it was originally placed, before I moved it. Intuitively, I would have moved it first thing, but I followed the instructions and moved it last. When I drew the property lines from my survey coordinates, the house wasn’t completely enclosed. Could that be the root of the issue? I’ve searched the manual, and haven’t found a solution.
Thanks.
I’ll try to post a view of the issue here. (And yes, I have much to clean up and finish on the house!)

Bump
(I don't have this version, and have never messed with 3D)
I have not used the site plan module so I can't help on this one.
Sorry.

Well, Randy from Splash (the Softplan forum) CALLED me. Wow...awesome guy. He talked me through it. It was a bit of a mystery. Turns out the manual isn't worded correctly...a nice way of saying it is wrong, LOL. Solution was moving the entire SITE plan to align with the house. ooookkkay.Looks like this now (work in progress!)Thanks guys!Jake Gulick

Other than the big step up at the front door, and the fact that it might be a bit cool on windy nights, that looks like an awesome house!View Image bakersfieldremodel.com
Thanks, it's actually an existing cape that's had a dubious second floor addition/reno. Plan is to gut the first and remove the second altogether, replacing with what you see. Theres a one story garage there, but the foundation is junk, so the new 2 story garage will go in it's place. Missing in that rendering 9other than the siding, LOL) are all the curved rooflines, shingle detail, brackets, boxed windows and other details. We've been working on proportions up to now.If anyone is interested I'll post my rendering that the client sees. She's a fan of hand drawn pencil sketches.Jake Gulick

I.m still running version 10. How do you like 14? What are the main differences with the upgrades? I know I'm way behind but can't decide to bite the bullet.
Good Lord, you are still flying an old biplane and wondering if you should try one of those new fangled jets we hear so much about! Even jumping from v12 to v14 was pretty powerful stuff for me.There was almost no change from v9 ( which I started on) to v 10 except that v9 was still a DOS system, but 10 was truly windows compatible...It is hard to remember back that far to what it didn't have that has been added and that you can do now.
But if your computer is still as archaic as the program you are running, you would definitely need to upgrade your hardware too, to handle it.You can go online to see the comparison of the v14 tools available now.

I know, I know, But I don't use it for much more than actual working blueprints, not 3-D or material takeoffs. Still, I know I should have upgraded before this. Now, it wont work on my new laptop. I still have my desktop, which it will work on, but I don't know how much longer before that gives out, it's about7 years old now.
And, a word to the wise, so to speak. Back up! A 7 yr old machine is a time bomb. I use actual media to back up the important files on, not just a separate drive. (I'm sure we all do. ;) )(My 1.5 yr old Dell is on it's 4th motherboard. I was down for TEN days. THAT was ugly. I was an hour away from getting an iMac)Jake Gulick

My desktop is almost that old. I had to add RAM and a video card to get it to work up to speed and to do 3D work. My Laptop is 2 years old and handles it all, but is slower on the 3D generation.Roofs would be a tremendous change in what you are using now.
I don't think site plan was included back in V10 either, but I still have not had a need for it.
