Hi all.
This may sound remedial, but when a code mentions clearances from walls, are they referring to the wall as the framing (distance from studs), or as the finished wall (distance from the drywall)? I’m tiling a new shower stall and if the minimum width is 30″, then I need to know what the reference points are. Would this be from finished tile to door? Width of usable floor space, or something different?
Thanks!

They're talking about finished, usable space. So in the case of a shower, measure from the finished tile surface.
Unless you're the lead dog, the view just never changes.
