Hey guys, have many years of construction [framing experience]but not full time anymore, need some advise that I think the ”inspectors” should catch ?
I am watching over my relatives house being built, because they are 2 professionals that are never home [ they rent a house across the street of the new one built]
todays visit had 3 things that I noticed, [ hillside house concrete walls and basement framing done along with beams and floor joist]
Firstly, the waterproof membrane has been compromised [ dozer or fork lift accident] Thats a givin for fix’in
The next two Are these code violations?
Secondly the 1 steel beam on 1 end is at a 45 degree angle to the foundation wall the beams pocket in my opinion is not deep enough and the 1 side of the beam is almost out of the pocket , I thought there was a requiremnet on how much beam should be in the pocket
Thirdly, there are some floor joist meeting at 1 of the beams that a] do not overlap beam and are only in some case overlap each other about 2.5 inchs, I thought they must overlap and end up over beam at leasts 6 inch’s?
The membrane should be address right away because it might get covered up , but should we see what the inspector catchs for the other stuff because they can be corrected later
Keep you posted
Thanks Dave
