*I don't know from MiriDri but it sounds like an Ice & Water. So unless you specified a particular brand and grade, then it sounds like you got what you wanted. Tell your Contractor that you were curious about MiriDri because you wern't familiar with that brand. Ice and water is a modified bitumen, usually SBS, or SBM with a sticky back and a peel release plastic. The granular surface is a good development that most roofers appreciate because it means you can walk on the stuff while you're installing the roof. When ice & water first came out it was like working on ICE when it got damp and it got RUINT from all the fingernail gouges of the roofers sliding down on their way to the ground. The function of ice and water is to form a water proof MEMBRANE that seals around the nails that hold the shingles down, and its supposedly wide enough that an ice dam can't grow high enough to get by it.
*So listen newbie, what happened ? This is like missing the next episode of your favorite soap. The least you can do after posting your message in FOUR (4) ah say "fore" places is to let us know what happened, My guess is ("never mind")

I made him remove it and install Grace Ice and Water Shield. I told him that Ice and Water Shield is a registered trademark for a specific product and that the MRi-Dri was much thiner. The contractor had also not installed the drip edge (he said that he would lift the membrane up and stick the the drip edge under it later). In addtion he was to replace two windows that are next to the roof (+- 1" above the roof). The existing windows have a solder copper pan at the sill and the plans called for an new soldered copper pan with a hemmed edge. The contractor did not install the pan. So after that I told him to remove everything and build it per the plan. I hope this will be over soon. (The contractor was not the low bidder)

Excellent ! Plans and Specs, just like it should be, I wonder what goes thru peoples's heads when they sign a Contract and make changes without prior authorization. Have been guilty of that myself, but usually when there was no one to discuss the job with. But deviating from a written Spec is kind of letting it stick out in the wind.
