I am looking for the best way to sound proof an existing part;y wall between semi-detached house. The house was built in 1907 so the wall is composed of old plaster and 3″ x 4 “Ievery foot. I exposed one side of the wall already and I would like to find the best and easier way to sound proof the house between the two tenants. All advices or experiences are welcome…welcome. Thankles

Gilles,
They say that the expandable foam type insulation in the stud spaces makes a good sound barrier. I know that R-19 with sound board over it works good too. The only real problem with either method is that the sound can be transfered through the actual stud it'self. That's why we stagger 2x4's on a 2x6 plate to get the best sound resistance.
Good Luck,
Ed. Williams
