My company has bought an old Steel supply/shipping warehouse and we are turning it into office and warehouse space. We will be building a two story office inside the warehouse, with windows overlooking the fabricating shop. Can anyone give tips on tested sound absorbing, or soundproofing techniques? Would masonry blocks work better, or metal studs with double thickness drywall? I’ve heard of putting silicone on the studs, then silicone again between another layer of drywall. I’ve also heard of chicken wire between layers of drywall. Glazing will be done with tested and proven methods. All air gaps will be sealed with appropriate caulk.
