My local yards get it from Vermont Wholesale. I am in Lake Placid, way upstate (unless you are in Rouse's Point).
thanks i am closer to albany but i will check them out
There's a place in Pine Plains called Northeast Wholesale Hardwood Lumber, or something like that. I believe they were specialising in VGF.
In the Catskills, I get mine through Woodstock Bldg Supply, who gets it from Canada, mostly.
Dave, Arrow, where aare you guys. I am looking at propert in Columbia County.

I'm in Ulster Co., but I think Pine Plains is right there by you.
You could also call Premium Plywood in Guilderland. I think they would have VGF, but it would most likely be in the rough.
I do some business with premium , it would be special order the price was a lot higher than another quote I had.
I do buy their plywood and hardwoods.
Yeah, I'm not surprised it's a special order. They do carry Cherry and Poplar. They charge a pretty low price for Poplar. Cherry,.....well, that's another story.
I also just got a quote on cherry I was suprised to see how much the price increased since I last purchased it. I was motivated to go out to my storage trailer this weekend and pull out all the cherry I needed, I had more than I thought, but it was on the bottom of the pile. I have been hoarding boards for many years, probably found a couple hundred board feet. Some of the boards are too nice to use, it will break my heart to cut them up.
Now I have to put back all the wood that was on top of the pile, it was dark by the time I stopped for the day.
Cherry is the most expensive, commonly used, American hardwood there is, followed closely by Black Walnut and hard, white Maple. On the East coast, the prices hover around $5/bf
My quote last week was $6.10 bf for 4/4
Ouch.
Many times you can find better deals at small local sawmills, though it's not always dry. Today I am going to a mill to pick stock for a new kitchen job I'm working, and I can expect to pay less than $4/bf.
There is a mill not too far from me where I have bought lumber before, I just have not had time to call them. Premium plywood is only a few minutes away, all other places take longer to get to
