I’m building a porch that will have vertical posts to carry the roof above. I’d like to set the posts up on something to help prevent rot. The prch is the focal point of the house, so I’d like to set the post up on someting fancier than the run of the mill cast aluminum ones you see. Anybody seen anything out there?

Black locust is supposed to be good for 30 years in ground contact. Probably last even longer on your porch.
