I have to epoxy some #4 rebar dowels into an existing foundation so it ties into the new footing I will be pouring. Here in Los Angeles, this task has to be observed by a Deputy Inspector and signed off… so I want to be very prepared. It’s my understanding that the 5/8 inch hole must be reamed with a brush to loosen debris. Can I use the same 1/2 inch brush I use to ream out and brighten copper fittings? Or should I be looking for a specific type of brush made for this specific endeavor? It’s also my understanding that the hole must be blown out with a special nozzle — one that blows air not only out the end of the shaft but also along the length of the shaft. Does anyone know where I might buy this tool? Thanks in advance!

check your masonry supplier where you'll get the epoxy, they may have these.
Simpson sells brushes for just this thing. Essentially a slightly oversize brush with nylon bristles. An undersized brush will have a hard time loosening the crud. According to simpson, when epoxying you drill, blow out the dust, brush, blow out the dust again and add epoxy.

Simpson sells the epoxy you need along with the mixing tips and brushes. The air nozzle we use is a long tube that screws into the end of our standard air blowers. Interstate Pneumatics or Amflo make these. I get mine at White Cap, but have seen them at Lowe's and Home Depot.
