Hi y’all. I have a customer who currently has cafe style door hinges on a pair of doors that lead to her kitchen. Being cafe hinges, these 2 doors swing both inwards and outwards. This customer wants to remove these hinges and install a type that will allow the doors to swing inward only, and…at the same time, these doors will stay locked in this position until they are pushed closed again. Another words, thses hinges will allow the doors to “click” into an open position and they will stay in this position indefinately until they are manually pushed closed again.
This customer says that on her older house she had a pair of such hinges that allowed this particular open/closing action. She claims that she was told that such a hinge no longer exists today. When using the cafe hinges, she swings the doors inward and “locks” them open by hooking both doors with a chain and eye hook. She hates this setup, and merely wants the doors to remain open until she manually closes them.
The entry way is not an actual wood jamb doorway, burt rather a plastered archway. She does not want to have regular door jambs and leaf hinges. She wants to mount this “special” hinge onto the plastered jamb; which currently is how the cafe hinges are attached. I could attach a “no-mortise” hinge, but there is no guaranty that the doors may want to eventually “drift” from its open or closed position. The hinge this customer talks about actually held the door ridgidly in place until such time when the customer manually pushed the door closed again.
Is there such a hinge and if so, where can I get it?
Thanks.

How 'bout using conventional hinges, or even conventional cafe hinges, but adding a magnetic latch intended for cabinet doors? The latch would hold your doors in the open position.
Thanks for the suggestion. I did think of that, but would prefer to find the hinge this customer had before...if at all possible.....otherwise, I will be riggin up something!

Don't go counting the hinges before they arrive, Hopefully they can get them to you at a reasonable price.
No experience with them at all, just found them on the internet.
By the way I'm cheap, I take bud in a bottle, actually directly from the tap at AB in St Louis is the best, but I'll settle. lolView ImageGo Jayhawks..............Next Year and daaa. Blues View Image
