I would like to build a square set of stairs off a corner of my deck. I cut two stringers
which meet at a right angle. Where do I go from here? Do I cut a hip stringer?

I've heard of "hip swingers", but not "hip stringers".
Is that like a regular stringer, but it's really cool????
For my birthday I got a humidifier and a dehumidifier. I put them in the same room and watch them fight it out.
If I comprehend you, you want a landing at the corner. Each stringer you now have will serve as a pattern to cut the other stringers. The lower set will lead up to the landing and the upper set will run up to the deck.
You must have a landing whose length is 36" minimum
(check code in your area). Can't simply miter two
sets of stairs at 90 degrees. You need a post or two
to support the landing and hence the lower run of stairs.
You could do a radius on the stair and make it bend 90
degrees. Rather difficult, especially for an exterior stair.

Are you trying to turn a 90 degree on your steps without a landing? If so you need an outside post and a very very good carpenter.

Yes you need a hip stringer. Just one though. Cut it after you have built one side, leave your treads loose so you can measure and adjust your cut.
I don't think they know what you are trying to do... I do.
Thanks Keith,
Scribing the hip with the treads was the answer. I kept trying to work the framing
square.
