same as ever.. pull diagonals..
but .... the gable end is plumb....right ?
and the building is square....the walls were lined (string & block)...
so.. you measured up from the truss tails.. snapped a line & laid your roof sheathing...
leave the gable ends loose and align the gable ends by string & block...
pulling the diagonals will only tell you if it's square.. if it's not , it's too late to do much about it... you have to follow the building walls below...
*Ditto what he said.
*To get a square roof the walls need to square themselves and square to each other. if the foundation isn't level & square you need to make the floor so, Ifthe floor isn't you can still lay out the walls to compensate to a certain degree. If the tops of the walls are not flat level and square, you will spend alot of time measuring and stringing and tweaking the roof structure and not really accomplish much except aggravating your self. Any of the guys/gals posting herewill tell you an accurate roof frame startss at the foundation. Sorry if a framing primer is not what you were looking for! If you already know that every thing underneath is square etc. then what Mike said...but make sure you are measuring from accurate points, tails can be notoriously un-even, if the ridge is straight you can measure from there or plumb up from the wall where you know it is square.I dont know how experienced or meticulous you are but it is good to remember that the drip edge and arch. shingles can be used to hide a multitude of sins.winter is coming hope you get it done before the snow flies. ;)Good luck and Happy sheathingMr. T.
