Got a client who owns and has offices in a 80 year old 3 story building with original wood joist and floor boards are exposed. Great old historic building used to be a hardware store. Anyway they are trying to reduce (no way to eliminate) some of the floor board squeaks, have used finish screws and to some degree has worked. Not trying to stop all of them, gives the building character, just drop the volume of the squeak to where you hear more foot steps than squeaks. Somebody on job had heard of a talcum powder type product, I haven’t, it would need to be a dark color to not be seen. Any ideas??

How about getting some chalk that's a similar color and sanding or crushing it into dust? Although I imagine in either case you'd have to renew it periodically...

shhhhh don't tell anyone this secret..ok?
squeegee some shoe polish (the right color) in the crack where the boards are rubbing, you can melt a can of KIWI in the sun.
Use an old credit card to schmear it and tuck it in, buff off the excess.
