I have a new house that I built and moved into a little over a year ago. I installed pre-hung paneled doors from Home Depot. They are plumb, square and shimmed with even spacing all around.
At first they worked very smoothly, but every day they get squeakier. They are now loud enough to wake me from a deep sleep. I know that’s a nice security feature, but it is annoying.
I hate to oil the hinges with just anything. What is the best thing to use that won’t run and stain the door finish?
Thanks,
John

Boeshield B-9
it's a penetrating spray wax developed by Boeing. I heard for de-icing aircraft surfaces, but it is great for tablesaw tops, circ saw plates, and hinges

Where do you get that? I need some for the squeaky landing gear on my jet.
Most of the finer aircraft supply house have it, like Woodworker's supply

Well, I wasn't 100% sure myself. I didn't think it looked right, but I had to Google to be sure.
Hand soap

Hand soap would do in a pinch but most attract/absorb moisture. At least I have been told that was the reason to not use it to lube screws.
Silicone grease. You can get it in a tube at NAPA Auto Supply. It doesn't separate, run, harm rubber. It is good to about 300 degrees F.
Thanks MeM. The silicone would have probably been the best. I used a tube of white lithium grease to do all the hinges last night. So far so good, but the lithium is a lot thinner then silicone.
