!st real website results.

seeyou | Posted in Business on December 8, 2007 12:19pm

I’ve had my website up and running (although it’s not finished – kind of like my house – probably never will be) for over a year. My original intention was to use it as a reference tool so I wouldn’t have to bother previous customers. It’s worked well for that.

A month or so ago, I decided to add a custom fabrication section to enhance that side of my business. I’ve added a few items (got lots more to add) and today I sold some drip edge to a guy in Maryland. My previous concern was that the search engines would not find me. This guy Googled “copper drip edge” and came right to me. Whoohah!

Hey hey, congrats on the news and the sale! You're going to be a god of the 'internets' soon.

I'll send you some unsolicited advice on your site soon, too :)

That is neat as well as interesting.  You always (I do anyway) wonder if something like that is working so firm proof is really a neat thing to hear.  We track all our calls and it really is amazing what works as well as what doesn't.  Great to hear one of the advertising arms we all hear we can't live without works!  DanT

You should be able to check your stats on your control panel. The number most relevant is the unique visits. Also, look into the google adwords program. It will drive a lot of people to your site. And you can pay whatever you want.

Words work. It's the underlying fundamental basis for getting seen in searches unless you want to pay for it. It takes work. Write a few hundred words about the subject and hundreds of other related subjects and you'll get more clicks. Links from outside your site is the next step.
