I’d like to run my stack vent up inside the abandoned chimney it sits next to, but I can’t find anything in the 2003 IRC about either abandoning a chimney nor using it as a chase nor running a stack vent in it. Anyone have any idea if this is possible? It would make life so much easier if I can…

A sewer stack in the chimney? That is going to make Santa Claus skip your house for sure. Have you checked with your local plumbing inspector? I can't see why this wouldn't work.
I'm Dan Boyle, and I approve of this message.
I'm trying to, but even though they'll take my tax dollars, they won't take my calls ;) The only problem I can forsee would be supporting the pipe properly within the chimney stack. Or I could just tear the chimney out, but I *really* don't want to do that...The plumber I've spoken to about the DWV apparently thinks having a vent pipe run up through the middle of a bedroom is a feature...Z

You can be overwhelmed and underwhelmed, but why can't you be simply whelmed?
They use chrome poles out west here, so I think it's a regional thing. Or at least that's what I remember from the last time I was in a position to see one.
Chrome........Brass Who the hell looks at the pole, anyway ???(-:
