I’ve been finding it difficult to locate a local source for Stanley hardware items. While Stanley tools are available, most of the local hardware stores in my area (Michigan)have switched over to National for small hardware items. One owner explained to me that Stanley was giving big discounts to the home center chains and that small hardware stores were not able to compete on price. I used to be able to find Stanley hardware at Builders Square but they’ve closed down in my area. Specifically, I’m looking for the Stanley screen and storm window hanger sets used on old-fashioned wood storm windows. Stanley still makes them and they work better than alternative brands. Do you know of other national home center chains which carry a full line of Stanley hardware? Or, have any of you tried to order items directly from Stanley?

Home Despot carries a full line of Stanley hardware (okay, maybe not all 8 zillion pieces, but a lot). If you're in mid-Michigan, try Central Michigan Lumber.
*My local lumbar yard has ordered specialty hinges from Stanley for me.Rich Beckman
*Rich - would that be your own 'back' yard, vertebrately speaking?b been there, done that, slipped a disk ...
*Ummm....uh....yeah...that's right! That's what I meant. Sure! Thanks for helping clarify the post, Jeff.Rich Beckman???vertebrately????

*Adam - I'd argue with you, but I don't have the backbone ... besides, you're right.Jeff
*I'll check at Home Depot. If that doesn't work I'll see if a large independent lumber yard in town can order them for me. Thanks for all of the "feedback".
