Has anybody put in a foundation and plinth for a life size statue? I’m looking for ideas to present to a customer – they want the statue (Virgin Mary abd Child) to stand about four feet out of the ground.
Thanks

I assume this is outside. What's the climate like? Is frost an issue?

This is in Ontario, Canada. The standard depth for footings is 48" below grade to get below the frost line

Well, that's a starting point. You might want to propose footings below the frost line, and then piers up to the base of the plinth. It would probably help to promote good drainage under the base with gravel. What you do from the ground up depends partly on the style you're looking for. Maybe you could cruise by some churches for inspiration (If you don't happen to spend a lot of time in such places already!).
