I’m doing a 2000 sq. ft. addition, doubling the size of the house. Architect calling for new hot water system. Existing is oil fired steam boiler (gas not available) and the furnace is on it’s last legs.
My question: Is it possible to install a new hot water system with some kind of feed for steam to take care of old and new. Some of the radiators can be converted but some are inaccessible and would need a lot of retro fitting. Do I put two heating plants in? Any suggestions on the best plan of attack would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

New steam with a heat exchanger to feed the new part.
