the ones i’ve seen install using the shower stall as the steam room..not sure if that what you need.
don’t no much about the moisture situation..the units need a water supply, electrical supply, a relief valve piped to the exterior and a drain pan
depending on your city…i think they were “Mr Steam”.

I have built quite a few steamrooms. You are right to be concerned about the details regarding moisture, live steam (pressure) and heat.
But I'll go with Gabe on this one and suggest you contact contractors in your local area.
Unless you want to buy my book on how to build a fine steamroom after I finish writing it.

*jj...Thanks for the "details". I'm in impressed...Links to scanned photos and all! Was that taken from the Tile Council of America's handbook?John
*Yes John, it came from the 1999 version. I would be interested in what the insulation/barrier experts would have to say about condensation prevention measures when an exterior wall is common. Since the tile itself acts as a vapor barrier, would a separate visqueen barrier behind the tile/mud assembly create a problem?

I was recently asked to renovate a clients bathroom but they'd like to consider some sort of steam room set-up along with the shower. The tub would be in a seperate area. Does anyone have any experience with building a steam room. I understand there are a lot of details to consider on account of the high heat and moisture levels. Your experience/advice is appreciated. Thanks - John
*Steam cabinets can be purchased as complete units or as kits. Enclosed tubs by some of the national manufacturers can also be purchased with the steam option. There are contractors in most major cities that specialise in installing and building steam cabinets. Some of the connections are simple and some require extra plumbing requirements.Start off by contacting your major plumbing supply house and they will guide you in the right direction and will probably have brochures for you to show your clients, the many options.Gabe
