I am considering building a 4 ft.crawlspace foundation using steel studs instead of the traditional concrete. The soil is sandy and rocky, located in Montana. was going to go one ft. on center with colored metal running from the footer,up the steel studs and rim joists, and bent 2 in. over the subfloor.Has anyone done this before, successfully or not? Can anyone see any hidden pitfalls or reasoning why this couldn’t replace concrete foundations?
