I have to start opening up a basement slab in an older home, guessing it was built between 1920-30. Historically speaking, can someone tell me WHEN it was that this type of flatwork started to receive steel reinforcement? How about type of reinforcement and its placement?
If I can anticipate some of it in the slab I may not have to cut things up too extensively since some of what I’ll be doing is thickening and reinforcing.

Rest assured there is none.
*Rent or borrow a metal detector, it will indicate any metal in the slab.
