It seems that steel shims are a hard item to find. If anyone’s interested, there is a 10 lb box of assorted (10-gauge and 16-gauge) 1.5″ x 3″ steel shims for sale on eBay. Search using the terms “steel shims.” Hope this is helpful for some of you.

It's not really spam when the interest was generated by an article in the July issue of this magazine and people all over the country have been looking for these things. I'm just responding to the people interested in this product that have not been able to find them. Just trying to help people find what they have been looking for over the past few months. It would be spam if I had posted it without anyone mentioning they had read the article in Fine Homebuilding Magazine and cannot find them anywhere. Merely being of help to the subscribers of the magazine my man. If you're the spam police go over to MSN and Yahoo! they could use some help.
It's spam.

I'm relatively new here and don't know nothin'. Would it be appropriate to make such postings in "Reader Classified"?
Where in FHB were they mentioned? And where does it say they are hard to find?
This should have been in the classified section, and then probably would have been appropriate and acceptable.
I see this is your first or second posting. I too think it borders on spam, or at least unauthorized advertising.
And if you had come out and plainly stated that you were selling them on ebay, it would have looked cleaner. As posted, it looks suspicious...like you're trying to be a good guy and tell us about something you happened to see on ebay, whereas the truth is that you're trying to promote your item.
Do it right, or do it twice.
I for one have been trying to find some. So thanks for the "heads up" on them.
