Dewalt 12″ non-slide single bevel saw, model 705. About 10 yrs old. Been very reliable, I like it. This week the switch has started sticking in the on position. Scared the bejabbers out of me the first time … finish the cut, raise the blade and let go of the trigger … no change. Smack the handle and it shuts off. Maybe twice a day.
Then today it didn’t want to start once.
Can I blow it out with compressed air, or is it terminal?
I’m sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.

Have the same saw, had the same problem. A little compressed air, a little WD-40, and no more problem.
Did you have to take the handle apart? (I haven't even looked at it yet.)
I'm sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.
Ed.. electrical contact cleaner and not WD...........
Mine did the same thing a coupla years ago.
Took it to the DeWalt repair shop .... they replaced the switch ... cleaned the heck out of it ... and readjusted everything. Took a day and a half. I think it cost less than $50.
Like getting a new saw back.
I tried opening the handle and spraying it out first ... worked for a week or so ... then slowly the "constant on" problem came back. Decided to get it fixed for real the first time it stuck for my helper.
In the mean time ... smacking it sideways with a 2X worked! ... seriously.

I love my 705 and after 8 years I had the same problem. Went to Dewalt repair ctr (luckily right down the road), and got a new switch, cleaned it adjusted it and was back in business. Two years later I had to have the whole saw rebuilt. Dewalt has a flat rate on this type of repair, I think it was $150. I went with it because that saw is like my right arm, an extension of me. When I got the saw back, they had basically replaced everything but the table and fence. It was new saw. The guy told me that if I had paid for the stepped out price of labor and parts, it would have cost me about $450 which as we know is absurd. The saw new costs $275ish. I was very pleased to say the least. The darned thing just may outlast me. I have done some beautiful work with that saw.
