Hi
I have an older home with quite a few additions at various times. I currently have two plumbing issues.
1) When you run water in one bathroom, you get a very obvious sewer like smell. My first thought is that I have a stack/drain problem, but I am really only guessing. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can look into?
2) I am in the process of moving a bathroom sink, other bathroom, so I was was in the crawl space tonight measuring. I noticed a lot of wetness. After a bit of removing insulation, I discovered that the drain line from the bath tub has rusted through. The damaged pipe is 1 1/2 inch horizontal run pipe. I think it may have been galvanized at one time, but you can’t tell that now. In one spot it touched the ground and right near there it rusted through. At the far end from the damage, this pipe runs into a 90 and then into a cast iron trap. What is the best way to remove this pipe from the 90? I am guessing that some penetrating fluid and later some heat will be what I end up with. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your time!
Jim
