After almost a 15 week wait from time of order, we finally got and installed our chimney cap arrangement today. Ten pieces, total weight almost 6400 pounds.
Bottom slabs are 3″ and are in three segments to make the 14 foot length, upright pillars are 4-1/2″ thick by 18 inches tall, and the top slabs are all 4-1/4″.
It is wretched excess . . . the box below it is wood-framed and steel reinforced. Going up through the chase will be a doublewall steel flue from a zero-clearance seethrough fireplace below. The propane-fired boiler in the basement also has its vent going up through. Facing on the box is faux stone, and we knew it wouldn’t match the real granite used for wall facing on the house below, but it was OK’d by the client.
