Need some suggestions on storm doors (for rentals). Dont want the cheap ones… they tend not to last and look crappy. I have tried Pella and Anderson ($200-250 range). Wondering if anyone has a preference and why?

Listeners write in about haunted pipes and building-science tomes, and they ask questions about roof venting and roof leaks.

We have a 30-year-old welded steel Rusco storm. Been painted a couple of times and had one glass pane (snowblower threw ice) and the screen replaced. Still in good shape.
Just ordered a full view Larson at Lowes, 3/0'x6/8. under 200 bucks.

EMCO. Owned by Andersen, fairly rugged, and just a tad less expensive than the Andersens. For rentals, I'd suggest half-lights, otherwise, you'll be repairing/replacing screens every year, as opposed to every two or so.
around here if you watch hd they will have some clearanced andersons for a 100.00,they are hard to beat for that. larry
why pay someone to screw it up,i can do it for free....
I second the EMCO forever doors and the half lights. They are built pretty rugged.

Just installed two Larson 3/0 mid-view doors I got from Lowes for about $200 with tax. Be advised that the locksets are not reversable. Left hand swing is "normal," but the handle looks OK for a RH swing. Don't need a 9/16" bit to mount the set as a 5/8" works just as good.
