I have a wood burning, an old Fischer, 20 years old. I have always used regular stove pipe inside and then on the outside I used galvanized pipe. The exterior pipe would last about two years and then I would replace it. The pipe comes out of the top of the stove, goes up about 3′ and then elbows out through the wall. The height on the outside was about 5′. My house is an A frame so the roof clearance is not an issue. The stove has always drawn well. Well, this summer I installed a new pipe system, I purchased insulated pipe, stainless, from the stove, through the wall and then from the elbow outside a straight piece of stainless pipe. The diameter of the pipe is 8″ the entire way. My old system was 8″ until it elbow out the wall, I reduced it to 7″ to fit through the wall space. Again, it always drew very well. The new system does not taper, straight 8″ the whole way. It does not draw very well at all. A lot of smoke in the house and I have to keep the stove door closed until it finally gets burning. When I open the door to add wood, smoke bellows out. Any Suggestions. Thanks
