I just bought a house built in the 30’s and it has what appears to be beautiful, nicely detailed, clear fir trim and baseboard that is covered by very old and cracked oil paint. What’s the best method or product to strip it. I’m in Washington state and I think we can still use solvent based products. After its stripped can you go right to a few coats of varnish or polyurathane or do you have to prepare it in some way first. Thanks for the help.
