A few weeks ago I posted a question about the best way to paint / stain the exposed portion of my foundation. I was given some excellent advice to avoid painting and maybe go with a colored stucco. After seeing how that would look I think I’m going that route. Stucco work is not one of my strong skills so I plan to hire out the job. I believe that you get what you pay for so I’m not looking for a low ball price. I’m looking for a good job that will last. What questions should I ask with regards to materials, application etc? Any red flags that I should keep a look out for? I live in Southern Orange County in New York.

They should mount the screen on the (cement?) foundation with concrete nails, powder activated is real good,If there is any 'build up or(out) to level the surfaces it should be with pressure treated plywood, not styrofoam! this stuff will break down under the weed eater...
Scribe once, cut once!
Ask to see examples of work from over five years ago. A lot of stucco looks great at first and then either gets splotchy or cracks develop because underlying problem were blown off.
Some of the difference in price in NYC, which I am familiar with, has to do with consistency of color and exactness of lines struck. There a lot of folks who aren't top notch in that regard but will still give you the twenty year plus job.
